Time for The Divine

Pastor Phil Vance

Highlights:

  1. The most valuable, costly, and desired gift you can give jesus is your time!

    1. You can’t create time, Time can only be used. You can squander time, misuse time and regret time. Or, in contrast, you can redeem time.

  2. How to trust the Lord in trying and difficult times:

    1. Be still:

      1. To slacken, to make less tight.

      2. To be still is to quiet down and let go of things that we hold so tightly. Things like ought, offenses, pressure, worry, doubt, disappointment, etc.

    2. Know that I am God:

      1. To have understanding of, to be aware of th truth or factuality of: be convinced or certain of.

        1. Know that I am God

          1. Omnipotent

          2. Omniscient

          3. Omnipresent

          4. Miraculous

    3. Know that I am not God.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Why is time the most valuable, precious and costly gift we can give to God?

  2. What ways can we spend time that will not cause us regret when it comes time to give an account for the ways we have chosen to use our time?

  3. We all have earth shattering events like the psalmist writes in chapter 46. What part of your earth, your life, is crumbling or falling away? How can being still before the Lord be our answer when action seems so necessary?

Key Scriptures, Quotes and Definitions:

-Ephesians 5:15-16 NKJV “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

-Time from a Christian Perspective: “ Time began at creation and will end with the second coming of Christ. It is the arena or boundry your life plays out in.  It is the opportunity God gives you to live for HIs Glory. It is Limited, and it will be accounted for.

-Psalm 46:10-11 “Be still, and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.”

-2 Kings 19:14-19 and 32-37

-Trouble: H6869 “Tightness, a narrow or a tight place.”

– Isaiah 55: 8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
