Your Kingdom Come II

Highlights:

  1. Do God’s Will (your kingdom come…your will be done)

  2. Have Humility

  3. Don’t be GREEDY for the WORLD

  4. Have a genuine LOVE for PEOPLE

  5. Embrace Tribulation

  6. Embrace Righteousness

  7. Walk Worthy

  8. Don’t Look Back

  9. Don’t Worry

Discussion Questions:

  1. Instead of demanding respect we are to offer humility. How do you offer humility? Why do you think this is important to God and His kingdom?

  2. God wants us to have a genuine love for people. How have you received a genuine love from others and how has that changed your life? In what ways can you demonstrate a genuine love for others? How does a genuine love for others exhibit the Kingdom of God?

  3. Pastor Phil spoke that tribulations may be a door to the kingdom of God. Where in your life have you gone through tribulation and seen God building His kingdom in your life?

  4. In God’s Kingdom, it His pleasure to give His people the kingdom. In what ways has He given you His kingdom? How does having God’s “good pleasure” change how we live and expand His kingdom?

Key Scriptures, Quotes, and Definitions:

People may forget what you Say and Do but they will never forget how you made them FEEL.

Humility is what makes up the KINGDOM of GOD

Instead of demanding respect we are to offer humility.

Matthew 7:21-23

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Matthew 19:13-14

13 Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 18:1-4

1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 23:12

12 And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Matthew 19:23-26

23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 25:31-41

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

Acts 14:22b

22b … “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”

Tribulations – G2347, thlipsis, from 2346; pressure

Things that bring pressure/tribulation and are not easy may be a door to the kingdom.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Thessalonians 2:12

12 that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Luke 9:59-62

59 Then He said to another, “Follow Me.”

But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.”

61 And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.”

62 But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Luke 12:22-25, 29-32

22 Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? 25 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

29 “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. 30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.

32 “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Worrying accomplished nothing productive and everything destructive.
Good Pleasure – G2106, to think well of, i.e. approve

God thinks well of you…and He approves this message: God is for you!!
