Jesus Is…Salvation
Pastor Phil Vance
Highlights:
Jesus is salvation
Jesus didn’t come to rescue them from the oppression of Rome. He came to rescue them from the oppression of sin.
Salvation’s Cost
It cost something to bring this salvation
Salvation’s condition
Salvation is not spelled “D-O” but “D-O-N-E”
Salvation requires nothing of you
Question: what must I do to be saved (Acts 16:30)
Answer: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. (Acts 16:31)
Salvation’s Consequence
You will not perish
We are all broken
Only God can make you whole
Big Problem
We don’t take him, the devil, seriously
God has a strategic plan for you life, the devil has a strategic plan for your death
Jesus does not excuse sin. He pays for it.
Discussion Questions:
Discuss what it means that salvation is not spelled “D-O” but “D-O-N-E”. How can God truly save us without requiring anything of us?
What has Jesus saved you from, what has he rescued you out of?
If you are willing to share, what areas are you still experiencing brokenness in your life? How is Jesus making you whole again?
Please take time to pray for each other.
Key Scriptures, Quotes and Definitions
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
John 8:10-11
10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”
11 She said, “No one, Lord.”
And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
