From Struggle to Glory
Pastor Tom Weaver
Highlights:
1. The remedy is not getting everything you want, it is getting the one thing that you need.
2.) The suffering in this life is something we are called through not something we are called to.
3.) We are on a collision course with Glory. We are being restored and returned to His original intent.
Discussion Questions:
1.) How do we reconcile the following two things?
– Jesus promises to give is life and that more abundantly.
– Jesus directs us to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him.
2.) In light of living from struggle to glory, what does it mean that your life is hidden with Christ in God?
3.) How are you being restored and returned to God’s original intent? In what ways could your life be described as being on collision course with glory?
Key Scriptures:
-But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Romans 8:11-13
-“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV
-If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV
– The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Romans 8:16-17 NKJV
