Dan Fitzgerald
Highlights:
1.) We become frozen when we have a destiny in front of us but move away from the will of God. It translates into a feeling of being stuck in the same spot and unable to move forward, despite our efforts.
2.) When God has a task for us to undertake, He faithfully returns us to it every time we try to run away. It was in the midst of his greatest distress that Jonah met with God.
3.) It is in the presence of God’s overwhelming love that we begin to change state (ice to water.)
Discussion Questions:
1.) Dan said that we can be frozen, but still moving very fast. What does that mean to you personally?
2.) Like oil and water, our old life and our new life must separate. Have you had an experience where it seemed like your old life was rejecting you – throwing you overboard (like Jonah)? If not, what do you think it would take for your old and new lives repel each other like oil and water.
3.) What cliff is God calling you to jump from? Can you identify someone to jump with you?
Key Scriptures:
You hurled me into the depths, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me. (Jonah 2:3 NIV)
Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. (Psalm 42:7 NIV)
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10 NIV)
