2013: A Spiritual Odyssey, part 2

Pew 2 You 1-20-13 Pastor Phil Vance
“2013 A Spiritual Odyssey”

Highlights:
1. Our natural life, lived outside of the doors of the Church, is just as important and spiritual as the life we live inside of the Church.

2. God has given us spiritual gifts and resources for this spiritual odyssey.
His purpose is for us to use them in a way that helps us to enjoy this journey of life.
Greek 4152 pneumaticos

3. Spiritual gifts are not man’s ability, but God’s supernatural ability to be used by man. As Christians, we become more interested in the box, that contains God’s supernatural gifts, than the contents of the box.

Discussion Questions:
1. What areas of your life could use the power of Gods supernatural gifts?

2. What hindrances can you identify that keep you from walking out in the power of God’s supernatural gifts? Examples may be: ignorance (lack or reluctance of enthusiasm), fear, indifference, apathy. What allows these things to continue to be excuses for you?

3. When was the last time you used one of these spiritual gifts? When was the last time you used one of these gifts outside of the walls of the Church?

Key Scriptures

1 Corinthians 2:14 But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. (NLT)

2 Peter 1:3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 12:31 So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all. (NLT)
