Journey from Victim to Victor

Highlights:

1. I can be victorious because there is a God in heaven.
A. The glory then, belongs to God and God alone.

2. I can be victorious because my God is able to deliver.
A. We may not be able to choose whether we are victimized or not. We can choose if we will bow down to that source of victimization or, refuse and bow instead to our God who is able to deliver us.

3. Great followers of God keep the conversation with God going continually.
A. When the conversation is broken, other things begin to fill the void.

Discussion Questions:

1. Pastor Tom said, “but if not” – it was at that point that they went from Victim to Victor.” Share together some personal experiences where you have transformed your position from victim to victor by making a choice to stand on the promises of God.

2. Since keeping the conversation going with God is so critical, share together some strategies you have used to keep in constant conversation with The Lord.

3. If you had two dogs, one named Victim and one named Victor and the dogs got in a fight. The one that would win would be the one that you feed. Feed Victor. How are you feeding a victorious spirit in your life?

4. What areas of life could you grow in trusting our God who is victorious? Share together and then pray with one another for God’s victory in each other’s lives.

Key Scriptures:
-Daniel Chapter 2,3 and 6

– Arioch took Daniel to the king at once and said, “I have found a man among the exiles from Judah who can tell the king what his dream means.” The king asked Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), “Are you able to tell me what I saw in my dream and interpret it?” Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come. Your dream and the visions that passed through your mind as you were lying in bed are these: (Daniel 2:25-28 NIV)

-Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. (Daniel 3:13-17 NIV)
