Message Title: Power Systems

Speaker: Pastor Dan Fitzgerald

Highlights:

  • Every power system needs a power source: The source of our power is God. (Isaiah 40:31)

  • Every power system needs a conduit for the power to travel through: We are the conduit of God’s power. (John 15:5)

  • Every power system is used to accomplish work: We have a calling to accomplish something that requires the power of God. (Proverbs 3:5)

It isn’t about the how, but the why

  • Every power system needs a ground: God’s Word is our ground. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

You can operate in the things of God without being grounded in God’s Word, but it isn’t safe.

  • The circuit in every power system must be complete: We complete the circuit by giving the glory back to God. (Revelation 7:12)

Discussion Questions:

  • What does it look like to get our power from God? How do you make good contact with your source?

  • Are you a conduit or a can’t-do-it? How often do you say yes to God when he wants to move through you?

  • What work has God called you to? Why?

  • Are you grounded in God’s Word? If not, what can you do this week, this month, this year to get grounded in God’s Word?

  • Have you been giving God all the glory? Or have you been trying to keep some of it for yourself?

  • This Thanksgiving, how are going to give all the glory to God?

Key Scriptures, Quotes and Definitions:

  • Isaiah 40:31 – “but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

  • John 15:5 – “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing.”

  • Proverbs 3:5 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

  • Revelation 7:12 – “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen”
