Heaven’s Draw 2

Heaven’s Draw 2
Now and Then
Pastor Phil Vance
April 2, 2017

Highlights:

1. Now we see the things of Heaven as a mystery or enigma. When Heaven comes, we will then see and know clearly and face to face.

2. God is sovereign. He can do whatever He wants. PERIOD. Whether I understand it or not. Whether I agree with it or not. He can do what He wants. His ways are higher than mine.

3. When adversity hits we can either curse God or bless God.
God uses life to test us and grow us.

4. Now our job is to:
Trust Him
Believe Him for healing, deliverance, and answers to prayer.
Ask and keep asking, seek and keep seeking, knock and keep knocking.
Remember that it’s all about Him and not about me.
Pray for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Discussion Questions:

1. Pastor Phil asked and answered: “What do we do when we don’t understand why God does what He does?” Answer: “Trust.” What events, circumstances and relationships is God asking you to operate this kind of trust in?

2. What does it mean to you that God is sovereign? He is the potter and we are the clay. What does His sovereignty mean in this kind of relationship?

3. In response to what Pastor Phil taught us was our part, pray with each other in faith for those things you long for Heaven’s provision for.

Key Scriptures and Quotes:

-Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
1 Corinthians 13:8‭-‬12 NIV

-“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord . “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8‭-‬9 NIV

-“Christ is either Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all.” Hudson Taylor

-Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face.
Job 13:15 NIV

-But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
Job 23:10 NIV

-Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.
Deuteronomy 8:2 NIV
