You are NOT Condemned!
Swptwmber 25, 2016

Highlights:

1. We cant get on with our lives because we cant get past the past. We define ourselves by what we’ve done wrong instead of defining ourslves by what Christ has done right.

2. God does not condemn us, but He does not condone our sin. He gives us these instructions, “Sin no more.” Change your lifestyle. And with these instructions, He gives us the power to do so.

3. Grace is the catalyst that turns guilt into gratitude.

4. Condemnation is feeling guilty over confessed sin. Conviction is feeling guilty over unconfessed sin.

Discussion Questions:

1. What is it about our images, guilt and lessons of past negative experiences makes them easy to live by today?

2. Pastor Phil said, “With the power of the Holy Spirit we dont become better than anybody else, we become the best version of ourselves.” What does it look like to combine with God to walk out of sin and into the best us possible?

3. What decisions do you need to make against yourself today for the purpose of saying no to ourselves to release the Spirit of God?

4. Getting God’s mind. What have you recently read from the Bible that has helped you to have the mind of God?

Key Scriptures:

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Romans 8:1‭-‬8 ESV

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
Philippians 3:13 ESV

Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”
John 8:10‭-‬11 ESV

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
Philippians 2:5 ESV
