1.) How does the devil blind us? Talk about the veil the devil uses on us. Have you ever been filched? “See definition below”.
2.) Have you lived through a renovation project. How would you describe what that was like. Include the good and the bad. What is it like to live through a internal renovation when God goes to work on us?
3.) When was the last time you felt like God was doing a renovation in you? What remodel plans does He have for your body, mind and will? What can we do to allow God the acces He needs to do the work He has planned for us?
Key Scriptures, quotes and definitions:
– And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Cor. 4: 3-4
Veilied: kalupto, to cover up or hide. From the word klepto which means to filch. Filch means to pilfer or steal in a casual way.
-Epheaiansh 4: 17-24.niv So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
-Romans 12:1-2.niv Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
